I try not to overload the Birdguides photo gallery with sub-standard pictures - the quality is so high these days - but post one every now and again if I think it's a bit special. So I was chuffed to see the little silver 'notable' rosette next to my picture of a Glossy Ibis in flight at Stanpit from last weekend, indicating that the image had been shortlisted for 'Picture of the Week' this week. That's a first for me. Particularly pleasing as the shot was taken at the very slow shutter speed of 1/250th of a second, and of many flight shots attempted, it was the only one which managed to capture the bird in sharp focus, and with a slight blur in the wingtips.
