Willow Emerald at Boyton Marshes

An added bonus from today's Sandhill Crane twitch was a couple of Willow Emerald damselflies at Boyton -this is a recent arrival in the UK, so much so that it doesn't appear in my field guide of British odonata. According to an internet source, the pale brown pterostigma outlined in black which can be seen on the wings in this photo help distinguish it from similar species. The same source says that 'Scarce Emerald is a larger and more robust insect, but identification requires examination of the anal claspers'. Fortunately Sandhill Crane ID was a bit easier than that.
